Use this page for the latest information from our Education Director.

Description

The Mispallelim Religious School consists of over 100 students in grades Kindergarten through Grade 7. We feature an integrated curriculum that covers Hebrew reading skills, Tefillah (prayer), Jewish Holidays and Shabbat, Jewish Lifecycle, Torah/Text study, Jewish History, Jewish Ethics and Mitzvot, Jewish Music, Israel and Contemporary Jewish Issues.

Students in kindergarten through grade 2 attend school once a week on Sunday morning. Students in grades 3 through 7 meet with their teachers two times a week on Sunday morning and Wednesday afternoon. In addition, grade 7 has a Shabbat Experience 10 times a year - see the school calendar for dates. Refer to the class schedules below.

We feature an excellent staff of teachers dedicated to instilling a love of our tradition in our students. Our Education Director works with our B’nai Mitzvah students on their Mitzvah Project and works closely with the Rabbi to insure a meaningful, spiritually satisfying family simcha.

The Mission Statement of the Mispallelim Religious School

Our school is guided by the principles of the Conservative movement. We offer a learning environment which is egalitarian, cherishes Halacha and Mitzvot, and embraces study which welcomes open, honest questioning.

The Mispallelim Religious School educational program is designed to open the pathway to life-long Jewish education for the youth of our congregation. At Ohev Shalom we aim to make education an enterprise of joy, pride and accomplishment. We hope to engage the hearts and minds of our children, to help them sense the continuity of Jewish tradition, and to give them the tools to lead an active, committed Jewish life today and in the future.

Our school is committed to the idea that Jewish education cannot take place without the involvement of the entire family. Therefore, we offer various Family Education programs.
