Bridging Divides in Israel: An Israeli Rabbi’s Perspective-A Conversation with Rabbi Arie Hasit

Thursday, April 3rd at 4:00 PM

At a time when the country’s unity is more important than ever, Rabbi Arie Hasit has a track record of bridging divides between different communities in Israel.  What will it take to unite the Jewish state in the face of its immense challenges, and what important role can American Jews play here and now in making sure Israel is a pluralistic, open, and democratic society?

Rabbi Arie Hasit’s Biography:

Rabbi Arie Hasit serves as Associate Dean of the Schechter Rabbinical Seminary, where he trains the next generation of Rabbis and lay leaders for Jewish communities in Israel and around the world. A Cherry Hill native and alumnus of both Camp Ramah in the Poconos and Hagesher USY, Arie was previously the Founding Rabbi of 70 Faces Mazkeret Batya, a unique Conservative/Masorti community that broke barriers by working successfully with and gaining recognition from the Orthodox establishment in Israel, giving Arie a unique perspective on key challenges and divides facing Israeli society today. Rabbi Hasit also volunteers as Co-Chair of the Masorti Movement in Israel’s Youth Committee and as a member of the Law Committee for the Rabbinical Assembly in Israel. He resides in Mazkeret Batya with his wife and their two children.
