At Ohev Shalom’s Mispallelim religious school, we seek to help our students build Jewish knowledge, as well as a sense of Jewish community and identity. As a staff, we continue to seek new ways in which to help our students have spiritually authentic Jewish experiences and to ask meaningful Jewish questions at every developmental stage. We believe that, beyond passively “receiving” a Jewish education, students and families have the exciting task of actively constructing their own Jewish identities, as they encounter inspiring ideas, surprising experiences and caring role models. We aspire to give our families the tools to do that work in a way that engages the whole person – heart, intellect, body/senses, and spirit.
We also believe that membership should not determine a child’s access to a Jewish education. Families are welcome to enroll their children in our school as non-members up to 2nd grade, and financial assistance is available upon request.
Allison has been with our Hebrew School since 2015 as the 4th and 5th grade teacher, and in the past year has taken on the role of Education Director of our Mispallelim Religious School. Read more about Allison
Parent Involvement
We see education, especially Jewish education, as a partnership between the school and the family. Built into the year are opportunities for parent volunteering and family learning-we encourage all families to get involved as they are able.
The School Committee is composed of a Board chair, teacher representative, and parent volunteers. They meet once a month (usually Sunday afternoons in person or Monday evenings virtually) to guide the direction of the school. Interested in joining? Please contact membership@ohev.net.
